During my life as a professional I have learned that being a teacher is not limited to the classroom, but to any activity which involves people, from an engineering position in the industry to a manager position in a store, or a salesperson in a company, they are all part of a learning and teaching process, that’s the reason why I fell in love with teaching methods. I discovered that becoming a specialist in teaching methods would help me to be a better professional in any field.
Another experience which has had a great influence in my life, is to be an international student and to be studying physics, this has helped me to learn about other cultures, and see that even when two persons may not speak the same language, think the same about something or even live on opposite sides of the world, they can all work together as a team and become like a huge family.
Being a student for this long time and at the same time being involved in teaching has been a great experience, it has helped me to see the type of teacher I want to be and the type of errors I don’t want to have. That’s why the concept on which I base my labor as a teacher, as a student and as a professional, is “Respect”. I think that respect must be necessarily the base in which any activity we do should be based, respect is not only limited to the way how we treat others, but also to the way how we act and do our own work. A teacher who respects their students will be prepared enough and be conscious of his own limitations, will teach what he really knows and will be trying to learn from his students as much as he can, a professional who respects other’s work will be honest and helpful, and a student which respects himself, his teachers and his colleagues will contribute to create a better learning environment in classroom.
